Navigating through a system of folders is not difficult, but it can be tedious if done repeatedly. This is why Windows allows you to create shortcuts, but if you create one for each folder you access regularly, you may end up with a cluttered desktop. With ShortCuts Manager, you may create as many shortcuts as you want, without placing anything on your desktop. The software also allows you to filter your shortcuts and search for specific items.

ShortCuts Manager works on Windows XP and all later editions and it is absolutely free. It asks for .NET Framework 4.0, which is included in the installation package. The application doesn't have any significant impact on a computer's performance, so you can run it even with obsolete hardware.

You can add shortcuts to folders or websites in a list, on the application's user interface. All you have to do is specify a folder's path or a website's URL and name the new shortcut, on a small window. Shortcuts are displayed together with their names and paths, as well as order numbers and options for modifying, deleting or running them.

The listed shortcuts can be filtered, to show nothing but folder paths or website addresses. Additionally, you can search for a specific shortcut, by typing its name in a search box. Although there is not much to look at on ShortCuts Manager's interface, its functionality can make your work easier. Instead of looking for a particular icon on a crowded desktop, you can just type its name on a small interface and launch the shortcut right away.
